We are a finalist for the Medilink Midlands Business Awards 2022!
Innovation Award Finalist for Optec® Biomaterial Reusable Face Shield System
We are delighted to announce that Tecman Advanced Healthcare Products Ltd has been shortlisted as a finalist for the Medilink Midlands Business Awards 2022 in the Innovation category for the development of Optec® biomaterial reusable face shield system. The awards celebrate and promote the excellence that East and West Midlands companies are achieving at the leading edge of the Life Sciences sector.
The Innovation category recognises the companies which have developed the most innovative technology, design or process which produces major improvements in business performance or end-user benefits.
The creation, development, and features of Optec™ biomaterial reusable face shield system is part of Tecman’s initiative to introduce a more sustainable, cost-effective PPE solution into the NHS.
Using high performance biomaterial technology made from sustainably forested trees, combined with investment in innovative manufacturing processes creates a more sustainably managed, lower carbon footprint PPE solution for healthcare services.
Optec® substantially reduces environmental impact compared to single use alternatives:
- Cleanable biomaterials reduce single use plastic by 90%
- Reusable component system reduces packaging waste by 52%
- Compact packaging reduces shipping weight by 80%
This initiative is designed to help the NHS meet carbon reduction targets and reduce pressure on healthcare organisations’ waste management systems.
Part of what makes Optec® unique is the ergonomic design, which provides optimal comfort and performance, whilst being easy to clean using existing methods within the NHS and designed to reduce bacteria build-up.
Our UK Director, Kevin Porter, said: “We are excited and thankful for being nominated for the Innovation Award in the Medilink Midlands Business Awards 2022 which is a great recognition for our hard work over the last year. We have developed Optec® to meet the needs of healthcare providers revolving around safety, protection and comfort, while supporting the NHS in delivering more sustainable healthcare. We are proud that these features of Optec® have been recognised.”
The 2022 awards will take place in person and will be the first opportunity since the merger of the East and West Midlands Medilink regions for members and the Life Sciences community to gather together to celebrate and network.
50 entries submitted across the 8 categories will be assessed by a panel of experts from the Life Science sector to select the winners. A winner will be announced for both the East and West Midlands Regions.
We’re looking forward to the ceremony and celebrating with all the finalists.
